Workforce Training & Education.

Our in-house training and career development creates upskilling opportunities to facilitate our teams to deliver a range of different functions and to meet future needs with much of our training provision delivered in our purpose-built training rooms and lecture theatre. This provision of scientific and medical teaching facilities for the healthcare profession also creates opportunities for the wider community, including new career options for local people.

We offer short-term accommodation and catering to facilitate small group teaching and residential workshops.

Creating additional capacity for the local NHS by using the appropriate skill mix in our service Provision, with an emphasis on helping people to grow and develop professionally to reach their full potential: this includes:

• Progression into registered roles (nursing and AHPs)
• Progression into more senior support roles (senior HCAs, Nurse Associate roles, Advanced Clinical Practitioners)
• Identification of areas where Doctors can be used more effectively as trainers and supervisors of other Healthcare staff, rather than in direct frontline delivery of care
• Ensuring all staff have opportunities for professional and career development, receive clinical and managerial supervision and receive appropriate recognition
• Recruiting local clinicians, but also seeking to recruit appropriate staff from further afield in order to ensure a sustainable service
• Ensuring ongoing learning and taking time to reflect upon patient experience and incidents, delivering best practice and encouraging people to work collaboratively to enhance and develop skills

• Ensuring staff are heard and empowered to bring about changes and improvements. We make it easier for staff to share their learning and expertise and to support each other

• Considering the skill mix in any team to include the range of competencies both individually and as a team, the ratio of junior to senior staff and the mix of different types of staff within the team.
